Trains at Acklington Station (Part One)

With the weather forecast looking promising, I decided to break the monotony of the coronavirus lockdown by heading to Acklington station.

The station has a very infrequent service provided by Northern Trains. There are three services calling at Acklington on weekdays and Saturday. These are timed in the early morning and evening, and are mainly used by daily commuters going to Newcastle. There are no services on a Sunday. The maximum line speed through Acklington is 110 mph in each direction.

This morning we saw the usual array of LNER Azumas, CrossCountry Voyagers and Super Voyagers and TransPennine Express Nova 1s. There was nothing in the way of freight this morning, I'm afraid, but there is some in the afternoon video. The people living in the old station master's house have chickens in their garden, which is why you can hear a cockerel crowing at various times during the video.

Footage was captured using Panasonic HC-X920 fitted with a Rode VideoMic Go.
