Some Saturday freight action at Carlisle Citadel Station.
Sadly I didn't make it in time for the Dalston oil tanks, but I did see a few intermodal trains carrying various containers.
To begin with train 4S43, the 0640 Daventry Drs (Tesco) to Mossend Euroterminal, approaches Carlisle from the south. In charge today is Direct Rail Services' electric locomotive 88005 "Minerva", hauling the "Tesco Express" from the supermarket's distribution centre in the Midlands up to Scotland.
A short time later the reverse working, train 4M43 the 1116 Mossend Down Yard to Daventry Drs (Tesco), heads south through Carlisle platform 4, pausing briefly for a change of driver. This train is hauled by DRS shed 66091, which received a new lick of paint shortly after it joined the DRS fleet in October 2019. Prior to that it was operated by DB Cargo UK and bore the EWS maroon and mustard livery.
To conclude train 4M30, the 1028 Grangemouth Tdg (Ews) to Daventry Int Rft Recep Rfd, heads south through Carlisle platform 4. DB Cargo's locomotive 66067 leads the way, stopping for a few minutes for a change of driver. In stark contrast to the previous DRS class 66 locomotive, this one is looking a bit more weather-beaten in its 20-year-old EWS maroon and mustard livery.
Filmed on 3rd July 2021.
Footage was captured using a Panasonic HC-VX1 fitted with a Rode VideoMic Go.
