Class 47-Hauled SRPS Special to Skipton and Keighley

A special charter train ran south on the Settle and Carlisle Line, for an afternoon visit to Skipton, Keighley and Bradford.

The tour was promoted by the Scottish Railways Preservation Society (SRPS) and operated by West Coast Railways.

Train 1Z60, topped-and-tailed by locomotives 47813 and 47854 and consisting of 8 coaches, got an early start from Linlithgow before heading up the East Coast Main Line until Newcastle. It then cut westwards across the Tyne Valley Line before heading south over the Settle and Carlisle Line.

The train dropped off at Skipton, before continuing eastwards on the Airedale Line to Keighley and Bradford Forster Square. From Bradford the empty coaching stock retraced its route westwards along the Airedale Line to Hellifield, where it sat for a couple of hours prior to the return journey.

Train 1Z61 departed Skipton on time at 1652 hrs, calling at Keighley and travelling via Leeds to the East Coast Main Line. It then travelled northwards on the East Coast Main Line back towards Linlithgow.

My footage was recorded as the train passed Cononley Station, which is one stop to the east of Skipton on the Airedale Line.

Filmed on 26th October 2021.

Footage was captured using a Panasonic HC-VX1 (aff. link) fitted with a Rode VideoMic Go (aff. link).
